Last week, the Lagos State Government decided to begin the restriction of motorcycles and tricycles in 15 different local governments. There was a lot of brouhaha and accusations; people condemning the government and questioning the timing of the law; most of the arguments were justifiable.
One thing I have come to realize is most often than not, complaining is not a strategy. This morning on getting to Ikeja where my office is, I saw two different classes of people (mostly tricycle operators). The first class of people was a set of keke drivers who had mobilized themselves to complain and probably stage a protest. While the second set were also keke drivers at another bus stop who had quickly adapted themselves and had gotten minivans to convey commuters.
I know many of us have been beaten and battered by the current economic situation; it’s high time we stopped complaining. Why can’t we begin to see the opportunities inherent in this seemingly daunting economic situation?
