As Nigeria is set to resume national team football, now there is the need to look into Europe to fish out the best players from the ocean of talents scattered all over. A few days ago, the NFF made it known that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be doing battle with Tunisia and Côte d’Ivoire national teams in international friendly matches come October, sports247 reports.
Ex International Friday Ekpo has called on Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to make the most of the current situation to ensure he gets the best of the top-performing Nigerian players abroad now that the exclusion of home-based players is justifiable.
Speaking in an interview with Brila, Ekpo said ‘this is the time to showcase their skills and ability to ensure they entrench themselves further to the coach and make stronger cases for the national team’.
It could be noted that there are young and talented legs out there in Europe and some are eager to make their debut for the Super Eagles. He thereafter added that the players must be consistently active players.
“This is the time for them to showcase their skills and their ability and whatever they can give and then give it out because there won’t be time for the home-based to come into the picture. Now the ball is resting on them for a while, we should just have to look up to the players who we have playing abroad and they must be up and doing players who are playing 24/7 for their club side.’
