Team360 Football Club president, Hamza Oladimeji has commented on the selection of goalkeeper Nathaniel Nwosu to the National U-20 team for WAFU B U-20 Championship in Niger.
Nwosu was one of 40 players invited by Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso for the forthcoming tournament in Niger. Nwosu, who is currently at Water FC, spent four years of his growth development with Team360 FC.
Oladimeji has shared his thoughts on the call up received by his former prospect. In a chat with Sports247, he expressed his joy while also wishing the shot-stopper best of luck.
“We are very happy. It’s a very good thing for us to hear the news of Nathaniel Nwosu. He is one of our products. We were very glad when we saw that his name was part of the national U-20 team that was released on Monday.
“It shows that we are doing the right thing. Nathaniel was in goal for us in the Fusion Football Championship. He had been with us for like four years. We trained him to be at the standard at which he is.
“We are not surprised because there were different professional clubs from Europe who have shown interest in him. But due to his young age he wasn’t able to move at that period. As a team we are happy. We wish him the very best of luck. We hope he is going to make the team for the qualifiers and we hope he does well.”
Seven-time African champions, Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside Ghana and Burkina Faso, with the tournament scheduled for May 7 to 20, 2022 in Niamey.
