The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) End-of-Year Sports Fiesta at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, concluded with Team Strength clinching the overall championship title.
The event, marked by spirited competition and fair play, showcased the resilience and sportsmanship of all participating teams.
Team Strength, led by Matron Oshodi-Eko Titilayo and Patron Omoloju Oluwasegun, demonstrated exceptional performance across all games, securing their place at the top of the medals table.
Making history with the highest number of gold medals in a sports fiesta, Team Strength adopted the mantra “STRONGER2GETHER” to promote ethical values and integrity among staff members.
The event’s concluding day witnessed thrilling finals, including catching the train, egg race, volleyball, badminton, and Tug war.
The volleyball final between Team Strength and Commitment was a highlight, captivating spectators with grit and zeal. Team Strength emerged victorious, adding to their impressive medal tally.
Team Strength accumulated 44 points, securing 7 gold, 10 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Team Unity followed closely with 38 points, earning 6 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
Commitment scored 36 points, clinching 6 gold, 4 silver, and 10 bronze medals. Peace, the fourth team, settled for 20 points with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
Oluwatoyin Gafaar, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, presented medals to the winners in various sports categories, acknowledging their dedication and excellence.
The culmination of the event featured the presentation of trophies and prizes to the overall winners at the stronger2gether end-of-the-year grand party held at the volleyball Court, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The party was a festive fiesta, complete with games, cultural displays, Christmas carol presentations, and lively music, creating a joyful atmosphere for guests to unwind during the festive season.
