Team Nigeria Begins Intense Boxing Camp at Ilaji Resort Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics

In a determined stride towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Team Nigeria’s boxing squad has commenced their rigorous training camp at the Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort.

With the Games set to unfold from July 26 to August 11, 2024, the athletes are gearing up under familiar and supportive conditions, Sports247 Reports

Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, under the leadership of Chief Engineer Dotun Sanusi, has previously hosted the Nigeria Boxing Federation with significant success.

The last pre-competition camp at this venue culminated in a remarkable haul of eight gold and two silver medals at the All African Games. This rich history of achievement has made the resort a preferred choice for the team’s final domestic preparations.

The Federal Ministry of Sports Development, in a strategic move, has designated Oyo, Lagos, Bayelsa, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as the primary locations for athletes’ pre-Olympic preparations.

This initiative was solidified during a ministerial technical meeting at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The session, led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, alongside national sports federation leaders, emphasized the critical nature of thorough preparations.

Senator Enoh confirmed that international training tours would commence immediately following the local camp.

Upon welcoming the team, Babatunde Odubola, the Sports Manager at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, assured the boxers of a seamless training experience.

He highlighted the resort’s commitment to providing top-notch facilities and a secure environment, fostering a conducive atmosphere for the athletes.

As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics continues, the Nigerian boxing team’s resolve is palpable. Their focus on meticulous preparation and unwavering determination sets a promising stage for their Olympic journey.

With the spirit of sportsmanship and the drive to excel, Team Nigeria is poised to leave an indelible mark on the global stage in Paris.
