Team Lagos Extends Winning Streak At Zonal Elimination Ball Games In Ibadan

Lagos continues to assert its dominance at the ongoing 2025 National Sports Festival South-West Zonal Elimination Ball Games, maintaining its winning streak in basketball, football, handball, and beach volleyball.

As the competition enters its final day, Team Lagos is poised to secure more spots as athletes, showcase exceptional skills and teamwork across various sports.

With the presence of the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende and the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission , Lekan Fatodu, Team Lagos are standing their ground picking points and shattering the ceilings with a good command.

Lagos men’s basketball Team were too powerful in the encounter with Oyo following their 53-45 victory, while the women’s Team walloped Oyo 66-43, making it two wins in two matches.

In Handball, the men’s team edged past Ondo 32-21 in their second match, having recorded a landslide victory against Oyo in their first outing.The women’s team will slug it out with Ekiti in their second match.

After a stalemate draw, the Lagos men’s football team found its rhythm following a 1-0 win against Ondo inside Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. Lagos women’s hockey team recorded another 3-1 in their second match against Osun solidifying its dominance in the group.

Meanwhile, In beach volleyball Lagos men’s stunned Osun 2-0 in two straight sets, while the women’s team thrashed Ekiti 2-0, having defeated Oyo in the same scoreline in their first outing.

The Lagos cricket team both men and women have secured their qualifications to represent the state at the 22nd National Sports Festival “Gateway Games” billed to take place in Ogun State.

Other results are still awaiting the decision of the technical team for ratification and sanction before pronouncement.
