The Women’s Football League is starting today, Monday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
Bayelsa Queens Football Club declared that they are ready to defend their title ahead of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Super Six playoff Championships.
Bayelsa Queens are the Women’s League defending champions. Prosperity Girls qualified for the Super Six by placing second in Group A of the regular NWFL Premiership season, winning their last game at home three-nil against Naija Ratels.
The chairman of Bayelsa Queens, Robin Angonimi Apreala, mentioned that the players are in good spirits and are eagerly waiting to beat any team that comes their way.
“The players by the Grace of God are good and ready for the Super Six clash against any team and the FA Cup final match against Rivers Angels. The players have vowed not to let Bayelsans down,” Apreala said.
He also thanked the state governor, Douye Diri, and his deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for supporting the team morally and financially.
Bayelsa Queens will compete against Delta Queens, Rivers Angels, Edo Queens, Robo Queens, and Confluence Queens for the League title. The winner will represent the country at the CAF Champions League later this year in Ivory Coast.
