TEAM ANAMBRA ARRIVES ILORIN FOR THE 5TH NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES

Athletes and officials of TEAM ANAMBRA led by Ag. Director, Mr Emeka Obidimma and Aka Benjamin Chika, have arrived Ilorin, capital of Kwara State ahead of the 5th National Youth Games (NYG) holding from 7-17th September 2019.

The TEAM ANAMBRA who came in at about 4 am Sunday morning in a convoy of four luxury buses and other vehicles of the commission including an ambulance and 8 police escort are in high spirit in anticipation of the event. The athletes are lodged at two hostels inside the campus, Lagos Hostel Block C (Male) and Block D (Female).

TEAM ANAMBRA which comprises of 200 athletes and 50 officials departed for Ilorin on Saturday afternoon after a round of pep talks from the Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony Oli and the Anambra State Sports Ambassador, Chief Mary Onyali, MFR OLY, at the Alex Ekwueme Centre Awka.

TEAM ANAMBRA had earlier sent an advance party comprising of a Director in the Commission, Faith Okwonna and a staff, Emeka Nrialike, who left on Thursday to ensure that all needed for a hitch-free exercise for the contingent is put in place.

Before departure, Chairman of the Commission, Chief Oli urged the athletes to be good ambassadors of the state by remaining focused on the task ahead and ensuring that they come out victorious by winning laurels in their various individual and team events. On her part, The Sports Ambassador, Chief Onyali, advised the athletes to shun any act that could damage their image and reputation. She urged them to be courageous, disciplined and exhibit the spirit of determination which is a panacea for success during the games.
