Prince Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye, Special Adviser on Grassroots Sports to the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, was present at the games to witness the team’s success, Sports247 reports.
“So far, so good. We are very happy they’ve made Nigeria proud. It shows how prepared they are for this tournament.
They’ve done excellently well, and the government in Nigeria is very happy with that.
They showed love, and they showed that passion we have for our great country.
What we saw today and since the competition started shows that they are stars to be reckoned with, and it makes Nigeria proud,” Adeboye said.
With ten boxers potentially in the final in various categories, Nigeria is currently in second position in the table of most medals won.
Adeboye had some advice for the athletes. “My advice to all athletes, they have to be focused. They have to be very focused and prepare well for the final.
So far, so good. I told you earlier that it shows that love and passion for their games, for their various games, and it shows they really love the country.
We’re very proud of them, and I believe they’re going to win gold. All of them will do well tomorrow, by God’s grace,” he stated.
Despite the men’s football team crashing out of the games, the female team is set to face Ghana in the final of female football on Friday.
“Our ladies are doing excellently well. Myself and the minister were there together today to meet them up, and it shows our love.
They were so happy seeing us there today. And they assured us that by God’s grace, they are going to win the gold on Friday. Hopefully, they are getting gold from there,” Adeboye said.
Adeboye also praised the discipline and competition within the team Nigeria camp this year this year.
“You see all the discipline, all the competition. I’m very happy with them. And I have that belief that the government will reward them when they get back to Nigeria. They’ll be rewarded accurately,” he added.
As the games continue, Adeboye had a message for Nigerians back home. “The last one we had, we are second too, this year again, we are second, and we’re doing excellent.
We’re better than the last All African Games. I just wish all the athletes the very best of luck, and I wish them to get medals, and it’s very important for the country,” he concluded.
