Nigeria’s Ogunsemilore Cynthia has made a remarkable impact at the All African Games, already securing a spot in the semifinals with a stunning quarterfinal display.
Ogunsemilore Cynthia, who is known for her simplicity and ease in the boxing ring, scored a flawless 5-0 in all three rounds to defeat her Ugandan opponent, Sports247 reports.
When asked about her performance, Cynthia expressed her excitement and confidence. “Well, I was so excited. I knew it would be easy for me because I’ve been training so hard before I got to this place. So I knew everything would be easy for me,” she said.
Despite her opponent’s attempts for a knockout in the third round, Cynthia remained undeterred.
“I knew she couldn’t knock me out. She can never, because the range is there.
The range alone is more confident, like I’m taller than her. I have everything more than her, so she can’t knock me out. I can’t be careless to that extent,” she confidently stated.
As an Olympian, Ogunsemilore Cynthia views the All African Games as a training ground for the Olympics.
She promises an even greater performance in the semifinals.
” You should be expecting good. My semifinal will be greater than this because I don’t take it too hard.
I fight easy because I train hard and fight easy. That’s just it,” she said.
Cynthia’s fighting style is not only effective but also inspiring to other boxers.
“The way I fight is going to inspire other boxers. They’ll be like, this is a girl from Nigeria boxing this way.
This is so nice. You guys should be expecting good from me in the semifinal stage.
And I know you guys are going to enjoy me for sure,” she added.
With her stellar performance, Cynthia has assured Nigeria of a gold medal in the 60 kg category.
“Sure. Gold for sure. Anywhere in the lightweight category, gold is sure for me.
I have it in mind. I’m going to win the gold, and I’ll be the best as the African champion.
I’m going to maintain it. I’m still the champion. The African lightweight champ can still go in.
I’m still at the top, so no one can disturb me,” she declared.
This achievement is a testament to Cynthia’s hard work, determination, and skill.
As the All African Games continue, all eyes will be on Ogunsemilore Cynthia as she strives to bring home the gold for Nigeria.
