In an exclusive interview with Sports 247, Coach Okon expressed his elation, stating, “Oh, great, I’ve lost my voice, screaming, shouting, and that’s the joy of winning.”
Reflecting on the intense competition, Coach Okon highlighted the strategic approach that led to their victory. “We knew very well that the race was going to be determined by the females. We knew that the Botswana, they have like a 2 .44, 2 .45 runners and they’re going to be one second just ahead of us.
I knew very well that if we stayed close, one of our girls would run them down and that’s what happened.” ” he explained.
