Despite initial challenges and a reliance on self-initiative, Olaleyin and his colleagues laid the groundwork for success through dedicated training camps and mentorship.

“You know, when you work, you get results. But number one, we have to give thanks to God for everything. What we do is that we never wait for the government. We did it by ourselves before the government came in. We do whatever we can.”

Emphasizing the significance of Nigeria’s achievement in reaching the finals with ten boxers, Olaleyin underscored the collective resilience and determination of the coaching team and athletes.

Despite the challenges faced, the unwavering commitment to excellence propelled them to unprecedented heights in Nigerian boxing history.

“And this is the first time in the history of Nigeria boxing. To have ten boxers in the final is so beautiful.”

Reflecting on the challenges encountered along the way, Olaleyin acknowledged the limitations of government support but emphasized the importance of collective effort and self-reliance in overcoming obstacles.

Despite the hurdles, the focus remained on the ultimate goal of success on the international stage.

“Sometimes, you know, in Nigeria, we don’t care about the challenge, but there will always be challenges. But when you look at it, everybody in Nigeria depends on the government.

The government try their best. That is why we are coming to support. We can’t leave everything for the government.”

Looking ahead, Olaleyin expressed confidence in Nigeria’s prospects at the upcoming Olympics, citing the impressive track record of Nigerian boxers and coaches.

With a strong determination and unwavering faith, Olaleyin affirmed his belief in securing Olympic medals and further enhancing Nigeria’s sporting reputation on the global stage.
