After securing their first win of the 2024-2025 Creative Championship League season, Dannaz FC’s Shuaib Muhammad expressed both relief and optimism.
In a post-match interview with Sports247, the midfielder emphasized the psychological impact of finally achieving a victory, stating that it lifted the weight of pressure off the team’s shoulders.
“What a relief picking our first victory! This is a motivation because playing in the league without a win can put you under that kind of pressure,” Muhammad said. The 2-1 win over Valiant FC came on Matchday 4 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, marking a crucial moment in the club’s campaign.
Before this victory, both teams had struggled to find their footing, remaining winless through the first few matches of the season.
Muhammad, who was named Man of the Match, highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive mentality, now fueled by their breakthrough win. ”
That mentality of a winner is what we have been able to achieve today,” he continued. “The man of the match award is a great turn of events for me, and I’m dedicating it to this victory and the entire team’s effort.”
Despite the victory, Muhammad remains grounded, recognizing that the league is a long journey.
“It is a marathon, we know that. We still have more matches to play,” he acknowledged. Dannaz FC will hope that this momentum can carry them through the rest of the season, as they work to solidify their standing in the league.
Beyond the immediate importance of the win, Muhammad also noted the significance of the league as a platform for grassroots players.
“This is one of the very best platforms for grassroots players,” he said, adding that whenever given the opportunity, players must “give it your very best.”
With the pressure of their first win behind them, Dannaz FC will now look to build on this result and demonstrate their newly acquired “winning mentality” in upcoming fixtures.
