Coach Oluwaseun Ogunmoyero revealed his next line of action after his side lost 2-0 to the defending champions, Beyond Limit FA of Ikenne, whom he confessed got the better of his side in the highly explosive clash.
He admitted that Beyond Limit deserved their victory due to better fitness level, faster transition play and being able to pick their chances, both of which they scored.
He, however, gave his players thumbs up for fighting till the last blast of the referee’s whistle and promised to work on all weak areas of his squad in order to win their next match, which will be their last in the campaign.
Ogunmoyero extenuated at length: “The game came as planned, and we saw what was expected from them.
Their boys are sharp, but most of my boys were slow in terms of transition play.
“The result was kind of expected, but we made a good effort of it. We defended very well, but Beyond Limit were able to use the two opportunities they had, and they were able to convert them.
“It’s not that we expected them to beat us, because we gave them a good fight in the first leg. I’m only talking in terms of the type of game we expected from them… in terms of their relentless play.
“We know they will always come at us. That’s part of the expectation I had about them.
We planned against the expectation we had about them, but they were still able to overcome our expectations.”
Oluwaseun Ogunmoyero added that he was happy with the fighting spirit exhibited by his boys, as they tried to overcome the relentless efforts and tactics of the glamour team from Ikenne.
“We tried to give them a fight to match up with their relentless spirit.
They are a good team, they are tireless, they are relentless, they will never give up. Even up until the 90th minute, they will always try to find that goal.
“We were able to guide against it in the first half, but we could not match up with them in the second half.
It’s quite unfortunate that they made the best of their chances in the second half, and they were able yo convert them,” Ogunmoyero analysed.
He also spoke about differences between both games his side played against Beyond Limit, home and away, with a verdict that many weaknesses were exposed in his team, which he will now work on before their next game.
The ebullient gaffer submitted: “It’s the same team that we defeated in the first leg, and we still saw the same relentless spirit from them.
In the first leg, they were even able to put back a goal in the 90th minute.
“Now that they were home in this second leg, I knew they would always come at us; which they did. Good one for them, and good fight from my boys too.
They were able to fight all through. But, unfortunately, we lost, and the victory is theirs.
“Our last game is against Atlantic Business. We’ve been doing well against them, but we don’t take any team for granted.
We’ll put in all our best effort because it’s our last game and we want to get a maximum three points.”
Oluwaseun Ogunmoyero concluded by stating the technical checks and adjustments he will make to his squad, adding: “We have to work on our transition and our fitness.
“That’s what allowed Beyond Limit players to get ahead of us. They were quicker, they were faster. They were very quick in their transition, especially their transition into attack.
“We’ll work on that aspect, as well as transition in defense, to guard against whatever the opponents want to try and use to score against us.”
