One of the directors of TCC, Akinyelu Olajide told Sports247 about the growth of the competition and revealed two new sponsors in the process.
“It’s all about growth for us. This is our fourth season and we started with no sponsor in the first season but our organization got better”, Akinyelu said.
“For us to get Casava and Optimus Bank, it shows we’re doing something right as we’re not just a football brand but a proper business”, he added.
Akinyelu Olajide who is also one of the directors and coach at a participating team, Gbagada FC, was asked how the league was managing and keeping up with the numerous talents that have emerged from the league and out to different parts of Europe.
“Speaking for myself,” he said, “Gbagada has a player in Albania, every weekend I still watch their games, give him one or two on how he can improve. Accessibility to the internet has made it better to watch their games”.
Speaking on whether the dreams of the founders of the league have been met yet or are still a work in progress, the director revealed that these are just signs of the process that should be appreciated and the basis for starting the league will remain important in terms of expansion.

“We’re not there yet but when you do something and see signs of the progress, it’s something to be happy about. It’s an idea that started with just a few people and from just discussions, no physical meetings, just online discussions, and being here now is so good.
We’re not just about playing football but we’re about youth development, playing football the right way, proper organization and so many things and that’s why we don’t want to expand beyond twelve teams. We want to only bring on board people with like minds and take baby steps,” Akinyelu said.
