One of the founders of The Creative Champions League (TCCL), Coach Olajide Akinyelu has promised that the competition will continue improving year in year out.
Speaking to Sports 247 at Ikenne on Monday, where Beyond Limits FA were presented the trophy as champions of the league for the fourth time, Olajide Akinyelu said it has been an amazing experience for him and his colleagues and assured that they will not rest on their oars.
He recounted how the league began with only eight teams, but has expanded into 12 and looks good to have much more, as many youth football followers rate it among the best in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
“It’s a journey of four years,” said Olajide Akinyelu, who is also the head coach of Gbagada FC.
“This league started as an idea in someone’s head. We came together to form something beneficial to we the member clubs.
“We started with eight clubs, now we are 12. Four years, and I must say we have to give kudos to ourselves for what we created in this league.”
He took a look at Season 5 of TCC League and enthused that it will provide an even better hunting ground for hidden talents, especially as the matches will be relayed via social media and posted globally.
Olajide Akinyelu added, “For the fifth season, we already have over 12 teams winding up to join us, and we don’t know how to go about that yet.
We are still working on how we are going to arrange the teams.
“But, that’s to tell you everyone else is seeing what we are doing.
Everyone knows that this is the best organized youth tournament in Nigeria.
“So, for us, we’ve done well. It’s a tournament that’s easy for the national team to scout and pick players from.
The youth range is between 15 and 20 years.
“We have opportunities for U20, U17, and U15. You could easily scout players here. You don’t need to come to the stadium.
“All the matches are on videos that are available online. Without coming here, you could easily follow our league and get the best legs.”
He concluded with a pledge of more efforts and ideas from the organisers; in order to make TCC League grow in prominence from year to year.
“For us, we won’t dwell on what we have achieved so far. We know it can still be better, and it will be better.
It’s work that makes things better, and we’ll keep working,” Akinyelu assured.
