Nigeria’s Beyond Limits Football Academy clinched the title at the Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament 2024 in Italy. The joyous occasion was marked by an emotional post-match interview with the team’s coach, Olumide, Sports247 reports.

Struggling to contain his emotions, Coach Olumide expressed immense pride in his team and the work they’ve accomplished over the years. He said, “I feel very, very happy and very proud of myself, of the team, of the work, the academy that we’ve done in the last couple of years.” He attributed the team’s success to the commitment to youth development and the belief in the project by the academy’s president.

When asked about the team’s celebration plans, Coach Olumide hinted at a grand celebration back home in Nigeria. He said, “We will be everywhere. But I know that back home is going to be a party. It’s going to be a party back in Nigeria, but here we’re going to be tranquilo, respect everybody, but we are very happy.”
The victory was made even more special by the debut of former Beyond Limits player, Ebenezer Akinsamiro, in Serie A against Lecce with Inter. Coach Olumide expressed pride in Akinsamiro’s achievement, stating, “We all watched the game at the hotel. We’re all very proud. It’s a testament that we can achieve greatness.”
He further added, “And for us to watch him on the same stage with the top players, playing in Leece, playing with. It’s a very proud moment for us, for his family, for the entire country. We’re very proud.”
