Imperial FC returned to the TCC League with an opposite end of the table clash of first against bottom and it produced a fantastic game of two halves as Imperial stole the show in the first half with two goals and Remo Stars won the second with two goals also.
Coach of Imperial FC Abdulfatai Abdulwahab explained to Sports247 that it was a painful result as the lads lost concentration in the second half.
“It was a painful result because we really needed the point to move out of the bottom of the table, we had a very good game plan which really work for us and gave us two goals lead in the first half, towards the end of the second the guys lost the concentration and they threw away two-point and we went away with a point which is not what we bargain for,” Abdulfatai said.
“We only played with 11 players. Some are injured and some are down with malaria after we came back from Ado Ekiti. Tired legs in second and no players on the bench to substitute also gave us problems. While Remo Stars change five fresh legs to boost more strength to the team. But no there are excuses for losing the point, we just need to wake and keep developing, we can only get better,” he added.
The coach, however, praised the performance of his opponents as he felt they really showed a desire to remain at the top of the table. “We played against a well-organized team. They really fought very well to come back. Kudos to Remo stars boys, we wanted to upset them. They were on top of the table and the way those boys fought shows they really want to remain on top. Two games left and we can’t afford to lose any point.
“We need to work hard and move out of the bottom and we lack strength from the bench,” the coach concluded.
