Broad City FC defender Boluwatife Adams has blamed “mistakes” for his side’s 4-3 defeat to Imperial FC in the Creative Championship Cup on Wednesday.
Imperial FC raced to a 3-0 in the opening 17 minutes of the game owing to some slack defending from Broad City. Two late first-half goals from Isaiah Omale and Solomon Agbalaka reduced the deficit to a single goal for Broad City heading into the break.
However, Rilwan Oniyide struck in the 60th minute for Imperial FC to kill off any chances of a Broad City comeback.
“We made a lot of mistakes in the first 10 minutes of the game and those mistakes cost us the game,” Adams told Sports247 after the match.
“If we had started the game well, I’m pretty sure we would have won comfortably. But we started after they scored us three goals. We started to fight back but it was too late.”
Broad City’s next game is against Gbagada FC on Sunday. The left-back is confident of a strong showing from his team.
“We only know about ourselves. We go into every game with a winning mentality. We are going to go into our next game with the mindset that we need all three points not minding what the opponents have planned for us.”
