Micah Bello, Assistant coach of Sporting Lagos has attributed thier narrow loss against Atlantic Business Football Club to injury woes, lack of concentration on the players side as the visitor scored in the dying minute to seal all three points.
This is the team’s first ever participation in the Championship and it sure didn’t end as planned.
Reacting after the game, Bello who spoke to Sports247 posited that the match wasn’t what they planned for, “our plan was actually different, we wanted to start with a victory but unfortunately we lost the match due to lack of concentration at the dying minute.”
“But apart from just loosing, our performance level which we set ourselves, we were far from the standard, we were not there today, we didn’t give one hundred percent on the pitch,” Mike Lamented.
Assuring fans of future results, Micah Bello said, “We are going to work on it, it’s a marathon, we are going to learn and build up from here.”
On thier long term target the assistant coach further explained that they have come to win and dominate.
“Loosing the first game of the season shows us how real the league is, it has opened to us the kind of quality we expect from the team.”
“We didn’t underated our opponent, we weren’t just there and with this, we will hold ourselves responsible for this performance although we had a lot of knocks coming from the Gold Cup.”
“We only had 12 outfield players fit for today’s match so making substitutions, trying to effect the game positively second half was hard because options was limited.”
“Nevertheless, we will be having some of the lads coming back, work starts tomorrow, build from there and definitely for our next match.”
