Gbagada FC manager Olajide Akinyelu has shouldered the blame for his side’s 3-0 defeat to Beyond Limits FC in the Creative Championship Cup.
Gbagada were punished for slack defending in the opening stages of the game which saw them go 2-0 behind to blistering Beyond Limits side after just 15 minutes played.
There was no way back into the game for the visitors from there on and Beyond Limits added gloss to the scoreline in the dying minutes to complete the victory and clinch the Creative Championship with two games to spare.
After the match, Akinyelu spoke to Sports247 and accepted the blame should be on him for the team which he picked to face Beyond Limits FC.
“Well, it was a terrible day for us. We tried moving players around at the backline but that didn’t work out. The loss is due to the selection I started with. And again we just didn’t play well and they were the better side and the better side won.”
Akinyelu also congratulated Beyond Limits on winning the Creative Championship. He said: “I would like to say congratulations to Beyond Limits for lifting the cup back to back.”
