Akinyelu Olajide, one of the directors of The Creative Championship League has commended the body in charge of Nigeria’s third-tier league for the new format adopted.
The calendar released by the NLO indicated that teams will now play up to 18 league games in a format that will be home and away in contrast to what it used to be in the previous season where teams play 10 league games thereabout in a season.

“I’ll like to commend NLO for this format of home and away, giving us the opportunity to play 18-20 games which is good as NPFL with 38 games, NNL with 22-24 depending on the group. In the 3rd tier, we shouldn’t be playing 10 games so this format gives enough games to aid players development and marketing as well,” Olajide told Sports247.
Speaking on the impact of the long season approaching on The Creative Championship League season which is on and has NLO teams participating in it, the director who is also the coach of head coach of Gbagada FC playing in both competitions was
“It’s not negative or positive. The TCC season was supposed to end the second week in May but we’ll have some emergency meetings to discuss and try to come up with solutions to adapt to the NLO,” Akinyelu Olajide said.
