After struggling at the start of The Creative Championship League season, Gbagada have since found a little form that has helped them qualify to the semifinals of the TCC Cup after defeating Imperial FC 2-1 on aggregate.
In a game of mixed feelings, the return leg saw Gbagada play a 1-1 draw with Imperial FC at Agege Stadium Lagos which cemented their position as one of the four teams in the semi-finals.
Man of the match of the game, Wasiu Olawoyin who plays Right Full-back for Gbagada FC was particularly excited about his side’s progress to the semis in an interview with Sports247.
“I’m so happy to win the MOTM award although we played it draw. I’m happy we’re through to the semi-final and I have to thank my teammates and the coaching crew for their support.
He also agreed with our reporter that he has set his sights on the cup trophy going forward. “Yes, as we’re going to the next round, we will try to show more of our strength and knowledge to add to what the coaches are giving to us and we’ll try to give our best to win the trophy,” he said.
Captain of Gbagada FC, Fagbayi Semiu, spoke on his side’s readiness to play in the semi-final. “The semi-final is going to be tough and I believe we’re going to be fully prepared when the time is ready. We will put in more effort to secure the final spot,” he said.
