TCC Cup: Gbagada FC Secure First Leg, Take Advantage Into The Second Leg

Coach of Imperial FC, Abdulfatai Abdulwahab

The Creative Championship Cup began Friday with Gbagada FC securing an away win against Imperial FC in Ikenne.

These two sides met days ago in the TCC League with Imperial defeating the Lagos side 1-2 to secure their first win in the league. However, Gbagada FC returned the favor yesterday by getting a crucial win and away goal in Ikenne, defeating Imperial FC 1-0 to take an advantage into the second leg.

Coach of Imperial FC spoke to Sports247 after the game and praised the performance of his side saying they were unlucky. “Unlucky today, it wasn’t a bad game from us but a little mistake from the keeper and our center back. Wrong communication from goalkeeper Lamidi. Yeah he did well in the game just a wrong communication within him and his center back,” coach Abdulfatai Abdulwahab said.

He was keen to add that his young side, the youngest in the competition, are getting better and developing and that they just need to learn quickly so as to be able to achieve their mission.

“We had our plan today and it worked because I knew they would come to bully my boys because they are bigger in size than my boys. We held them but they also had their chances. Unlucky today, we would have gone away with least a draw because towards the end of the game we really had more chances to score more than two goals but unfortunately it wasn’t well taking,” he added.

Both teams face off in the second leg next week at the Agege Stadium, Lagos with a place in the Cup Semifinals up for grabs and the Blue Eagles take a huge advantage into the game, and coach of Imperial has promised to deliver a fantastic performance from his lads in the game.
