Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has hailed Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his efforts in ensuring that Super Eagles now execute their home matches in Lagos.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria returned back to the ‘Centre of Excellence (Lagos) to execute its home match after a long while when they defeated Lesotho 3-0 in March in their final group game of 2022 AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking with Sports 247, the former Super Eagles heart of defense martial took some time out to hail and commend the amazing efforts of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for ensuring that the Super Eagles now play its home games in Lagos, stating that Lagos is a footballing state where fans would always cheer up players for superb performances and criticize players as well who aren’t performing at an optimal level.
“I will like to commend the Lagos State Governor for all his efforts towards ensuring that the Super Eagles now play here in Lagos”.
“To me, this is one of the best decisions that his excellency, Mr. Sanwo-Olu has done, because Lagos has always been a great footballing city, where fans will always come out in large numbers to cheer the team. When a player is doing well, they will cheer him up, but when he is not, they will always criticize. That’s the beauty of playing in Lagos. I really appreciate the efforts of the Governor, he did a great job”, he stated.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will hope to continue their winning momentum when they battle the indomitable Lions of Cameroon in an international friendly match in June.
