Chelsea’s Nigerian-born striker, Tammy Abraham has decided to stick with Aston Villa in the English Championship, rather than move on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the top-flight.
Sports247.ng gathered that, in what could be a counter-reaction to Chelsea’s insistence on not giving him a full transfer to Wolves, Abraham has opted to stay put at Villa Park, where he has been on loan since the summer.
Consequently, the in-form England international is billed to stick with Villa for the rest of the season.
Abraham returned to training with The Villans, despite Wolves’ formal offer and continued interest but, as the striker prefers to remain at Villa Park.
Abraham has scored 16 goals in 20 games this season and is the English Championship’s joint top-scorer.
Wolves want to sign the 21-year-old for the second half of the campaign and believe the deal is not dead.
However, additional reports reveal that a deal actually hinges on whether FIFA would ratify him to play for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Abraham featured for Chelsea’s Under-23 side in a Premier League 2 game against Derby in August and a player cannot play a competitive game for three clubs in a season.
If FIFA rule the game was competitive the deal is over, but the global football’s governing body had not been contacted about Abraham at the end of last week while Wolves were confident it would not be an issue.
The Premier League and the Football Association have already given Wolves the green light, and Villa remain powerless if Chelsea opt to activate their recall option for Abraham before January 14.
