Nigerian international, Taiwo Awoniyi is close to a club record switch with newly promoted premier league side, Nottingham Forest after saying his goodbyes to his Union Berlin teamates.
Awoniyi is set to finalize his medicals ahead of a £17.5million move to the two time champions league winners who picked up the last EPL spot via play-offs against Huddersfield at Wembley.
Formerly on the books of Liverpool with his signature dating back to the summer of 2015, Awoniyi failed to make a single appearance for the club over his six seasons at the club, with seven loans across Europe, due to work permit issues.
He later went on to spend the 2020-21 season on loan with Die Eisernen, before signing on a permanent deal for £6.5m last summer.
Awoniyi then scored 20 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions last campaign, attracting the attention of several sides around Europe.
Awoniyi will join fellow compatriots; Iheanacho, Ndidi, Lookman, Tosin Adarabioyo, Frank Onyeka in the premier league for the 2022-2023 season if he finally makes the switch.
