Sword VC and UCEM VC continued their impressive unbeaten streaks on Day 3 of the 2024 National Division 1 Volleyball League (final phase) held in Umuahia, Abia State.
In a one-sided match, Sword VC delivered a stunning performance against former National Division 2 Champions, LifeCamp VC, winning decisively with a score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-23).
Although LifeCamp attempted to assert themselves early on, Sword VC’s remarkable skill and teamwork ultimately prevailed.
The first set was particularly intense, with LifeCamp pushing hard before Sword VC pulled ahead to clinch it 25-21.
The second set saw Sword VC ramp up their intensity, showcasing powerful spikes and effective blocking to finish 25-19.
In the third set, while LifeCamp fought valiantly, Sword’s relentless defense and sharp serves secured the victory at 25-23, bringing their record to a perfect 3-0.
Meanwhile, UCEM VC faced Safety Spikers in another thrilling encounter, finishing with a score of 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-17).
UCEM quickly took control of the match, with the first set being tightly contested, but they managed to edge out a victory.
The second set showcased the grit of both teams, but UCEM held their nerve to clinch it 26-24.
The final set saw UCEM dominate, ending the match at 25-17, solidifying their unbeaten status alongside Sword VC.
In a closely contested match, G-Ranks faced Katsina United, with the game fluctuating between both teams.
G-Ranks initially took the lead with a 25-20 win in the first set, but Katsina United struck back to level the match with a 25-19 victory.
The tension escalated as G-Ranks reclaimed the lead at 25-18 in the third set, but Katsina United was relentless, winning the fourth set 25-22 and edging out G-Ranks 15-11 in the nail-biting fifth set.
The day wrapped up with NAF Rockets showcasing their prowess against Kwara United VC, winning all three sets convincingly (25-13, 25-18, 25-20).
In the National Division 2 League, Defence Spikers continued their unbeaten run against Bayelsa Spikers (3-0), while Wikki Queens defeated Ekiti Queens (3-0) in the women’s Division 1 League, maintaining their strong performances throughout the tournament.
