Defending champions, Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) Kano are off to a flier in the opening match of the 4th edition of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Cup, Kano State Chapter 2021 after they narrowly beat Radio Nigeria (Pyramid FM) by a goal to nil courtesy of Aliyu Ibrahim.
After a thrilling first half, both teams failed to find the back of the net despite the numerous scoring opportunities came their way.
However, ARTV breaks the deadlock in the 50th minutes with a sumptuous goal through Aliyu Ibrahim.
The striker dribbled past his marker to slot home the opening goal of the tournament to send ARTV top of group B with 3 points.
The match which took place at the Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari witnessed a large turnout of fans and high dignitaries that include Chairman, Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Director General, Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), Hajia Sa’a Ibrahim, Alhaji Dr. Danburam Abubakar Nuhu and a host of others.
Matches will continued tomorrow, Saturday 4th December 2021 with three matches in group A and B.
In group A, Guarantee Radio will slug it out against Tambari TV at BUK Old Site while Jalla Radio will battled Radio Kano at Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari and both matches would be played concurrently at 8:00am.
In group B, Aminci Radio will trade tackles with Rahama Radio Kano at 9:00am and the match would be played at the NUGA Games Arena, Bayero University, Old Site, Kano.
