The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his landmark victory at the Supreme Court.

SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, in a statement issued by the association’s Secretary-General Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo in Abuja, said the verdict by the country’s apex court on the 2023 presidential election is proof that President Tinubu has been trusted with the mandate to move Nigeria forward.
Mr. Benjamin while expressing confidence that Nigeria would experience better times ahead, enjoined President Tinubu to now make Sports development a top priority throughout his administration.
“On behalf of teaming and respected members of the sporting media in Nigeria, I firmly congratulate President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their resounding victory at the Supreme Court.
“The judgment of the Apex Court is obviously a testament of trust and the overall mandate given you by Nigerians, especially the young people to better their lots.
“Now that the judiciary hurdles are over, we urge you to look inwards and see Sports as the mainstay of your Renewed Hope Agenda that can gradually galvanize and accelerate the development of human resources in all facets of society.
“Sports as now widely known has moved from being mere recreation to business globally. And aside from ICT, Sports is the highest and most sustainable means of engaging people, especially young people Worldwide.

“What it simply means is that placing more attention in this direction, through enhanced budgetary provisions and policy making in 2024 and beyond, will both revolutionize the economy and serve as a veritable tool in harnessing abundant human talents and pulling the youth out of unemployment,” the statement said.
