The Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has extended its congratulations to Otunba Kunle Soname, Chairman of Remo Stars Football Club, and the club’s management for securing a spot in the CAF Champions League.
Remo Stars finished second in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table, amassing 65 points from 38 matches, just behind Rangers Football Club.

In a statement, SWAN Chairman Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji attributed the club’s success to meticulous preparation and hard work.
He mentioned the importance of strengthening the team’s striking position to ensure progress beyond the first round of the lucrative CAF Champions League.
“We want to congratulate the Chairman of Remo Stars Football Club, Otunba Kunle Soname, management, and the entire coaching crew for securing the ticket to represent Nigeria at the CAF Champions League.
The team’s qualification was well deserved, having amassed 65 points from 38 matches. It is our desire and prayer to see the club playing in the group stage of the competition and possibly win the trophy,” Ogunsiji stated.
Ogunsiji also noted the positive impact of the club’s qualification on the socio-economic activities in Ikenne and surrounding communities.
He urged Beyond Limits Football Academy, the club’s feeder team newly promoted to the NPFL, to maintain their winning mentality from the recently concluded NNL season.
Additionally, SWAN encouraged other football clubs in Ogun State, such as Gateway United Football Club, Stormers Sporting Club, and Dino FC, to strive for promotion to the NPFL and NNL in the upcoming season.
