Okpala emphasized the importance of adapting strategies to match different opponents and situations in football.

“After the first-round matches, we need to change our strategy, which is the most important thing in football. Beyond the formation and the players, having different strategies for various formations and positions is important. The coach needs to identify a strategy that aligns with his football philosophy or concept.
With the squad he has and the training they’ve undergone, he should know who will fit into each position. Our goal is to win the Nations Cup, and anything less than this would be a failure,” Okpala stated.
Okpala’s call for strategic adjustment reflects the dynamic nature of football and the need for teams to be flexible in their approach.
As the Super Eagles progress to the knockout rounds, the opponents and challenges will vary, requiring the team to have a versatile tactical approach.
Having experienced success as a player and coach, Okpala’s insights carry weight, and his recommendation aims to ensure that the Super Eagles are well-prepared and tactically astute as they aim to clinch the AFCON 2023 title.
Coach Jose Peseiro will likely consider Okpala’s advice as he fine-tunes the team’s strategy for the upcoming match against Cameroon in the knockout stage.
