Super Falcons Will Learn Many Lessons In Cyprus – Lawal

As the female national team, Super Falcons go for their last match of the Cyprus International Women Cup against Belgium on Sunday, ex-Super Eagles winger, Garba ‘Chindo’ Lawal says the players are learning many lessons ahead of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Lawal was happy with the Falcons’ return to winning ways by beating Slovakia 4-3 on Friday and downplayed the import of their 4-1 loss to Austria on Wednesday, as he insists there is no cause for alarm over the chances of Coach Thomas Dennerby’s side excelling at France 2019.

Sports247.ng reports that, rather than raise eyebrows over the team’s chances in France, Lawal enthused that they did better in their second match against Slovakia, and noted that they ost the first game because the goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi was sent off in the fifth minute.

Lawal went on to sue for optimism among Nigerian soccer fans, stating that the players and coaches never want to lose any match, then stressed that the competition in Cyprus is only meant to prepare them for the impending real assignment at France 2019.

The member of the technical committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) stressed that the Cyprus Cup is only one part of the Falcons’ preparations for the World Cup, and reckons that they will learn useful lessons from all their matches and a couple of more to come.

Lawal affirmed: “Any team will always want to win all their matches, and the same applies to the Super Falcons.
“This is still part of their preparations for the World Cup. I am sure they have learnt something they can use at the World Cup, and I know they will be ready for the competition in France. There is no cause for alarm.”
