Uchendu, a product of Nigeria’s Rivers Angels, has built an impressive career, previously representing Nigeria at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she scored a goal. Two years later, she featured in Nigeria’s victorious 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, converting a crucial penalty in the final shootout against South Africa.
Expressing her excitement about the new chapter in her career, Uchendu reflected on her familiarity with France, having played in the country during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. “I am happy to join FC Nantes. This is not my first time in France; I played in the 2019 World Cup here. I’m super excited to create new memories and meet the fans again,” she said.
During her career, Uchendu has made stops at several clubs, including SC Braga in Portugal, where she recorded 13 goal contributions in 43 appearances. She also played for Sweden’s Linköping FC before moving to South Korea’s Gyeongju KHNP in 2022.
With her experience across multiple leagues, Uchendu is expected to make a significant impact for FC Nantes Féminine as they aim for success this season.
