Super Falcons striker, Chiwendu Ihezuo has expressed that home-based female footballers will be encouraged with the recent invitation of 5 home-based players to the national team.
New head coach, Randy Wakdrum invited 5 players from the NWFL including the FC Robo duo, Monday Gift, and Habeebat Akinwande, Nasarawa Amazon captain, Mariam Ibrahim, and Edo Queens duo of Glory Ogbonna and Christy Ohiaeriaku.
While speaking to the Super Media from Turkey where the team is preparing for their first match in Gold City Tournament, the China-based striker said it was a good one from the coach.
” The coach did well to invite the home-based. It will encourage them and motivate them more and also make them work harder as their work is being noticed. They are really good players.”
The striker also thanked the football federation for accepting the invitation on the team’s behalf.
“Well, thank you to the NFF for accepting the invitation. It has been a long while we played as a team, it was necessarily needed.”
The Super Falcons kick starts their journey in the Gold City Tournament on going in Turkey on Thursday against CSKA Moscow Women.
