The aftermath of a contentious clash between Super Falcons’ Head Coach, Waldrum, and the NFF in the lead-up to the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand has cast a shadow over the coach’s tenure.
Despite the internal strife, the Super Falcons showcased their mettle on the global stage, delivering a commendable performance in the tournament.
Their journey came to an end in the Round of 16, where they valiantly faced the Three Lionesses of England, ultimately exiting after a penalty shootout.
Following the England match, Waldrum reportedly left the team’s hotel, sparking speculation that his role as the team’s manager might be coming to a close.
Shedding light on the situation, Gusau revealed that the NFF’s technical committee will convene to make a final decision regarding the 66-year-old coach’s future with the team.
Gusau’s statement came during a harmonious interaction between the NFF and the House Committee on Sports.
He remarked, “The issues of whether Super Falcons’ Head Coach, Randy is going to continue with the Super Falcons are the issues we are passing forward to the Technical Committee and which by the grace of God they are going to sit very soon and look at those areas and come out with what you will hear – whether he is continuing or not.”
The uncertainty surrounding Waldrum’s fate has piqued the interest of fans and football enthusiasts, as they await the outcome of the technical committee’s deliberations.
The NFF’s decision will undoubtedly have implications for the direction and future of the Super Falcons’ coaching staff, raising questions about the team’s potential prospects and preparations for upcoming challenges.
