The agitation for the inclusion of local based players in the Super Eagles has received a further boost from another obviously concerned sports administrator.
This came from Prince Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye, Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Sports. Speaking exclusively on leading WhatsApp sports platform, Nigeria Sports Centre, he remarked that the local based footbalIers are good enough to play for the Super Eagles, alongside their foreign based compatriots.
” I believe that we have quality talents in the local football league that can play in the Super Eagles,” he opined.
” These players have the zeal, passion and hunger to compete favourably with others for shirts in the team. All we need do is to encourage them by giving them equal opportunities like the foreign based players. And I believe that they would surely add quality and improvement to the team,” the amiable sports administrator enthused confidently.
Speaking further on ways to improve the quality of the local football, particularly, the league, Adeboye, who is also the President of the waves making Lagos based amateur side Smart City football club, charged the organisers of the local leagues to ensure the standard of officiating at games are remarkably improved, as well as, the provision of adequate security at match venues.
” Most importantly, we need to improve on the officiating at our local league matches. We also to increase the level of security during matches, in order to ensure the safety of players, officials and spectators,” he advised.
Adeboye, went ahead to admonish the football authorities on the needs to impose tougher sanctions on erring clubs.
