The Super Eagles will take on the Costa Rican senior national football team in an international friendly in San Jose next month, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed.
This will be the second meeting between Nigeria and the Central American country at the men’s senior national team level.
The game is scheduled for the National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital city, and will begin at 8 p.m. local time, which is 3 a.m. on November 10 in Nigeria. Costa Rica will use the game as a warm-up for the Qatar 2022 World Cup campaign. The World Cup starts on November 20.
Los Ticos are in Group E with Spain, Japan, and Germany. Nigeria, who did not qualify for the World Cup, will use the encounter to prepare for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will continue in March of next year.
Prior to that, Jose Peseiro’s men will play another friendly against Portugal on November 17. The match will hold at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
Nigeria’s AFCON qualification campaign will resume in March 2023 with a doubleheader against Guinea-Bissau. They began their campaign in June with victories over Sierra Leone and So Tome and Principe.
