The call for action comes as Randy Waldrum’s Super Falcons continue to grapple with unresolved salary and bonus discrepancies with the football governing body.
The prolonged standoff between the Super Falcons and the NFF over financial compensation has garnered international attention, prompting FIFPRO, the global players’ union, to issue a statement in solidarity with the female players.
The organization expressed disappointment that players found themselves compelled to challenge their own federation, particularly at a crucial juncture.
This sentiment reverberated across social media platforms, with Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala sharing FIFPRO’s statement on her Instagram account.
In response, Napoli forward Victor Osimhen advocated for the NFF to address the issue, commenting “Pay them NFF.” Echoing the sentiment, former Everton striker Victor Anichebe emphasized the need to honor the players’ contributions, urging the NFF to fulfill their financial obligations.
Notable ex-Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo added his voice to the chorus, reflecting on the recurring nature of such disputes, stating, “NFF never stop these things.”
As football personalities unite to call for a resolution, the spotlight remains on the Nigerian Football Federation to take decisive action and ensure equitable treatment and compensation for the Super Falcons.
This collective plea emphasizes the significance of timely and fair treatment for all athletes, regardless of gender, within Nigeria’s football community.
