The Super Eagles may need to play more than just a couple of friendly matches for them to do well at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, according to ex-midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju.
While making his opinion known in a chat with sports247.ng on Friday, the ex-player, fondly called ‘Headmaster’ during his heyday advised that Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should make the build-up tight.
Although the NFF have already confirmed an international friendly against Egypt on March 26 in Asaba, Mutiu believes similar games can still be acquired in April and May, before AFCON 2019 holds in June.
Mutiu went on to urge Eagles’ handlers to cash in on every FIFA window next year, in order to get build-up matches that would help them fix areas where there are lapses in the national team.
He warned: “If they want to have a good outing in next year’s AFCON, the coaches should know that many friendlies should be organized to help shape up the team before the championship.”
