Super Eagles defender Jamilu Collins’ spell with German 2, Bundesliga club SC Paderborn has come to an end following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season on Sunday.
The club earlier announced that Collins, along with several other players, will leave at the end of the season.
Collins’ contract with Paderborn expires on June 30, and the club has decided not to extend it. He will be free to negotiate with other clubs and move elsewhere when the summer transfer window opens on July 1.
“The season is coming to an end, which always means saying goodbye. Thank you for your commitment!” the club wrote on its social media handles.
It brings an end to Collins’ five-year association with the club he joined in 2017. In total, he made 137 appearances, scoring two goals and providing nine assists from a left-back position.
He helped Paderborn gain promotion to the Bundesliga in 2019/20 but the club suffered immediate relegation to the second division, where they have stayed ever since. They finished 6th in the just concluded 2021/22 campaign after a 3-0 defeat to Darmstadt in their last game.
Collins, 27, made his international debut for Nigeria in 2018. He was part of the squad that went to the 2019 and 2021 African Cup of Nations tournament.
