As controversy rages over a report in some sections of sports social media that former Super Eagles coach, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu, was being owed unpaid salaries by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) up till his death last weekend, a former assistant in the national team’s coaching crew, Fatai Folorunsho Amoo has revealed that he is facing a similar situation.
Sports247 gathered that the former First Bank FC and Julius Berger FC of Lagos, as well as Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Enyimba of Aba ex-tactician, confessed that the only reason why he has not taken legal action over the matter is due to the fear of possible victimisation by the country’s football officials.

The veteran coach, who is fondly called ‘Arsenal’ by his admirers, went on to issue a solemn appeal to the NFF to expedite action in the payment of all outstanding wages due him, because he is already advancing in age.
Amoo declared, “All the people in the NFF are our brothers, because we are in the same business of football. If you are not there today, you should be thinking that tomorrow you’ll be there. Unpaid salaries are, however, the problem of Nigerian coaches, including my humble self.”
The soft-spoken gaffer, who was a dazzling midfielder during his heyday, went on to point at the possibility of him still being considered for a national team appointment as a major factor that has stopped him from making any forceful demand for his entitlements, though he acknowledged that time is running out for him.
“I always believe that tomorrow I can still be there. So, if I take legal action, they will not call me anymore. But, whether I like it or not, no matter how humble I am, death will come one day. I’m not going young. Rather, I’m growing older and older,” Amoo concluded.
