On loan Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem was the captain of Portuguese club, Boavista when they stunned League title hopefuls, Benfica on Monday night.
Awaziem, who has been a regular starter for the bottom-placed club since joining on loan from FC Porto was surprisingly handed the captain’s hand band on a night they recorded the biggest win of the season so far.
The Center-back currently adorning the number 5 jersey of the club not only captained but also helped the team record their first clean sheet and first win of the season.
With the result, Boavista climbs to 13th position with 6 points from six games.
Awaziem is one of the 24 players invited by Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to crucify the doubleheader 2022 AFCON qualifiers game against Sierra Leone this month.
