SUPER 8 REFEREES REJECT SUBSTANDARD HOTEL

Match officials handling the ongoing Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super Eight (8) playoffs holding at Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, rejected what they described as substandard hotel allocated to them by the organisers of the Super 8 tournament.

The hotel located close to the stadium comes far short of acceptable standard for top class referees, hence the justification in the referees agitation.

A FIFA badges referee claimed the hotel lacked basic amenities like water and wondered why they were quartered there in the first instance.

This comes against the backdrop of the fact that officials of the NNL were quartered at the prestigious Terminus Hotel, Aba.

It was gathered that after the opening match Sunday morning in which Gombe United were held to a one all draw, officials of the second tier domestic league, NNL, made efforts to secure a better accommodation for the arbiters who all were FIFA badges referees.

An official of NNL, Lawrence Kartken hinted that the league body is financially handicapped for now and is more pressed by the need to relocate the referees to a more comfortable hotel accommodation.

However, there have been questions whether the NNL actually received the money Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, said it was giving the league body to defray the cost of organising the Super Eight (8).
