It was Sunshine Stars who emerged triumphant, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
Coach Edith Agoye, the seasoned tactician leading the Sunshine Stars, took some time to reflect on the match and share his perspective. He acknowledged the inherent challenges of assembling a new squad, especially after the departure of key players from the previous season.
“It was a difficult one when most of the players that prosecuted the season last year left. We knew it would always be difficult because it is not easy to build a new team,” Coach Edith remarked. He highlighted the fact that some of the departed players had left just when the team was beginning to gel, making the transition even more challenging.

Nonetheless, Coach Edith expressed his optimism about the ongoing progress of his team. He recognized that the new squad was still evolving and hadn’t yet fully come together. However, he also emphasized the importance of hard work and determination in overcoming these challenges.
“The team is not formed yet but it is evolving. We are happy to pick up a point here and there, and gradually the players would understand the philosophy and how to play among themselves. We believe once we continue to work hard, the time will come when we’ll be able to get it back,” Coach Edith asserted.
This unwavering confidence in his team’s ability to develop and function cohesively underlines his dedication to establishing a competitive and unified unit.
As the NPFL season unfolds, fans of Sunshine Stars can anticipate a journey marked by growth, development, and, with a bit of luck, more victories in the matches to come.
