Sunshine Stars’ Technical Adviser, Bala Abubakar, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to tackle the second phase of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Speaking ahead of their reverse fixture against Ikorodu City, Abubakar emphasized the importance of focus and intensity, highlighting his determination to reclaim Sunshine Stars’ position among the league’s top teams.
“We are fully prepared to kick off the second phase on a strong note, starting with a win in our first game,” said Abubakar. “The reverse fixture against Ikorodu City will be challenging.
They are a strong side and currently sit comfortably on the NPFL table. Despite our 2-1 loss to them in the first leg, we are ready to fight for points this time.”
The former Kwara United coach assured fans that his technical crew has been working tirelessly to strengthen the team.
He noted the inclusion of new quality players to enhance the squad and create competition for every position, building a more compact and formidable team.
Abubakar addressed past struggles with finishing chances, attributing them to poor decision-making and composure in front of goal.
However, he pointed to significant improvements during recent friendly matches, where the team capitalized on scoring opportunities.
“Our supporters will soon witness a more composed and efficient Sunshine Stars. With their prayers and support, we’re confident the team will make them proud by the end of the season,” he added.
Although Sunshine Stars are not in the relegation zone, Abubakar expressed his ambition to propel the team into the league’s top 10, which he described as their immediate target.
