…… As Kwara Utd force FC Ebedei to draw
Ogunjobi Gold Cup Tourney defending champions, Sunshine Stars put two goals past Nationwide League One side, Wasiu Alabelewe in the first game of MatchDay 4 at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
Three minutes into the second half, the Owena Whales proved that they were a Nigeria Professional Football League side as Anthony Omaka turned away from his marker to shoot a low drive that hit Alabelewe’s goal post for Adeniji Kolade to tap in to the empty net off the rebound.
As the time got the 74th minute, Sunshine Stars put the icing on the cake after an unmarked Waheed Afolabi heads into Alabelewe’s net from a set-piece.
In the second game, Kwara United fluffed their chance of becoming the first team to qualify for the semi-finals but FC Ebedei made them pay for their poor defending as the game ended 1-1.
The Oliseh Boys went up in the 12th minute with a surprised lead via Akamba Daniel after he nicked in a sensational delivery off a poor clearance from the Harmony Boys defence line.
With two minutes into the second half, Abdulsalam Salam saved Kwara United blushes as he scored the equalizing goal form a goal mouth melee.
