Suffering a 2-1 loss at the Akure Stadium, head coach of Sunshine Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote has described the loss as a temporary set back for the team.
Sunshine Stars lost to Kwara United on matchday 9 by 2-1 completing a winless week for them after a shocking 4-1 loss in Okigwe against Abia Warriors.
Speaking after the match to the media including Sportay247, the gaffer said the team will bounce back.
“We are truly sorry for the embarrassing result, I know we will bounce back. Out new players are yet to gel with the team, in no distance time we will be able to get ourselves together. I just know that we will still bounce back, I want to see it as a temporary setback.”
On in-form striker, Sadeeq Yusuf who has now scored 7 goals in 9 matches, the ‘oracle’ as he is fondly called said he is happy for the striker.
“I am happy for him, but the team comes first. I am sure he is not happy with the result, but I am happy for him. He is just doing the needful, he would have scored the second goal but unfortunately, the luck wasn’t on his side. It’s teamwork; the team feeds him quality passes and he is making the best use of it.”
Sunshine Stars drops down on the log following the 2 shocking losses but will now look ahead and aim to seek redemption against Wikki Tourists on matchday 10 in Bauchi.
