Buruj Sports Academy lost their test match by 5-2 against Sunshine Football Academy today at Gbagada Sports Development Center in what was the first of the two games to be played this week.
Three first-half goals were all the highly enterprising Sunshine side needed to race to what proved to be unassailable lead before German-Nigerian is born Esser Orion reduced the tally in the 32nd minute to end the first stanza 3-1.
At the resumption of the second half, Buruj Boys were awarded a penalty which was perfectly converted by captain Noah Salaudeen to raise hope of a comeback but it didn’t take long before Sunshine extended their lead to make it 4-2.
And in the dying minutes, another defensive mix-up between Centre Back pair of Aliu Fatai and Tijani Fawaz gave the opponents the chance to beat goalkeeper Edet, scoring their 5th and final goal to end the game 5-2.
And in continuation of the management and technical crew rebuilding process for their upcoming foreign trip, Buruj Boys will now fight hard to redeem themselves as they confront Yaba Tech School Team by 3.00pm on Friday at Yaba Tech Sports Field.
While reacting on the performance of the team and the final scoreline, the CEO Salaudeen Waheed was full of plaudits for the opponents for giving his boys something to ponder on saying they must respond against Yaba Tech side on Friday.
“It was a good game but our boys must raise their game against Yaba Tech on Friday to prove that they are getting set for the task ahead. ”
“Credit to Sunshine for giving us a good game. We need opponents who can expose our weaknesses so that we can work in those areas we need to concentrate on if we want to build a strong team, ” he posited.
