“I salute the tenacity and resilience of our players and coaching crew that have made our resounding victories possible in the three group stage matches. We have seen our players take every game as it comes, with uncommon gusto and consistency. I hope they keep the fire burning and continue trudging on till we bring home the trophy,” Sunday Dare said.
The Super Eagles had emerged group winners before taking to the turf of Stade Roumdé Adjia in Garoua but needed to win for Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen to accomplish a repeat of his one hundred percent group phase record set at the 25th AFCON in Egypt 16 years ago.
The Nigerian team is billed to play its round of 16 games on Sunday, 23rd January 2022.
The Super Eagles await one of the third-placed teams from any of groups B, E, and F in Sunday’s Round of 16 at the now-familiar Stade Roumdé Adjia.
